Crossroads Theatre is an award-winning, community engaged theatre company that produces relevant and accessible theatre and education for the Weston community and offers growth opportunities for early-career theatremakers.

To us, relevant means telling stories that matter - narratives that reflect our neighbourhood’s cultural, generational, and lived diversity. We prioritize Canadian work, with a particular focus on artists living and working in Weston, ensuring our programming is grounded in authenticity and the local experience.

To us, accessible means striving to remove barriers and embracing innovation - thinking deeply about how artists create, how we can collaborate, and how our audiences will experience our work. We embrace disability justice and embed access into our planning from the start. This includes offering free or low-cost programming, building accessible infrastructure, providing on-site access coordination, and fostering a culture of care.

We are driven to create transformative professional arts experiences that are deeply rooted in community. We believe that theatre can be a powerful force for connection, reflection, and change. Our work is about making a lasting impact on the people we serve.

At Crossroads Theatre, we fulfill our mandate through four interconnected streams:

  • Developing and producing theatrical productions that bring imaginative, cross-cultural storytelling to local parks, community venues, and classrooms across northwest Toronto;

  • Youth-focused education programs that build confidence, collaboration, and creative expression through accessible, play-based learning;

  • Paid mentorship and training opportunities for early-career artists, designers, and technicians entering the professional arts sector; and

  • Participating in community initiatives, and partnerships that foster belonging and creative participation through arts-based workshops, cultural celebrations, and public events.

Our work is rooted in the belief that theatre is most powerful when it is created in dialogue with the people it serves. We embed accessibility, cultural relevance, and equity into every layer of our process; from development to performance, outreach to production.

Whether we’re producing a new play built from community stories, mentoring a youth technician on their first show, or hosting a meal for local artists, we are committed to making work that is thoughtful, joyful, and truly grounded in place.

Crossroads Theatre is where creativity meets care, and where the next generation of storytellers and audiences can thrive. Our work is rooted in place, driven by relationship, and powered by a deep belief that theatre can transform both individuals and communities when it is made with them - not just for them.
